Since we released edition 8 in 2014, a lot has changed in the tech industry.
Full HD has become the bare minimum requirement whenever people consume media. And with 4k on the rise, it was about time that Pocket Date Boy made the jump to HD as well. Ofcourse this does come with the consequence that we've had to increase the minimum requirements, starting with edition 9.
In the past we've always tried to make the PDB editions run on practicly whatever antique pc you threw at it. No dedicated videocard needed or even being able to run it on windows XP. But with the jump to Full HD that simply no longer is possible.
The jump to Full HD, does look magnificent though, if we say so ourselfs.
What? You don't believe us just yet?
Than click on the image below for the fullsize 1920x1080 screenshot of a recent alpha built.
Please do note! That screenshot was taken with the alpha running on our dev machine with a i7, 32GB Ram AND a SLI setup of 2 GTX 1080 graphicscards. We obviously still have a lot of optimization to do.
What you can also see is the completely new UI.
As the old game ui had become quite a bit convoluted, we decided to switch to a complete new one. As running in HD with the clunky old UI would have been a waste. And don't worry, the blue glow won't be on screen all the time. Only at certain points.
Edition 9 will also contain a couple of other new features that we've cooked up. But we'll talk more about that in a later post, once we've gotten closer to the release date.
So what do you guys think? Are you guys getting exited? Let us know :)BLOG COMMENTS POWERED BY DISQUS
